  • Launch of OEM Vendor Clusters

    Seeing the success of SME open clusters OEMs have shown keen interest in the cluster programme. In order to improve the competitiveness of their vendors (suppliers), OEMs have identified ten of their suppliers to form a cluster and go through a 12 months programme. The OEM clusters formed and commenced in May 2006 are:

    • ABB Limited at Nasik
    • ABB Limited at Faridabad
    • Godrej’s Boyce Limited (Lock Division) at Mumbai


  • Launch of SME Open (Heterogenous) Cluster in South Region

    There have been spurt of SMEs coming together in southern region and forming heterogenous clusters. Three such clusters have been recently formed at Pondicherry, Hyderabad and Madurai. These clusters have been formed for a duration of 12 months during which inputs on Quality, Cost and Energy management will be provided. In addition to three heterogenous clusters one sectoral (Homogenous) cluster for leather industry has also been formed at Chennai. The duration of the programme is 24 months during which the inputs on quality, cost and energy will be given to the cluster member companies.
